"Central Station" Movie (Brazil)

In this movie “central Station” comes from a Brazilian culture. In this movie shows that it’s a busy place over there and everybody is on the move. The main characters are Josue and Dora, Dora is a scribe she writes letters for people that don’t know how to write so that shows that lots of people in Brazil don’t have a good education.
While Dora and Josue where together finding his father they grew a lot more together as a family. But compared to my family we are different , we would never be saying I which you where never born and be mean to each other to that extreme but, like Dora was with Josue are taking care of each other and being there to help him that’s more how they relate to my family. I think families should always stick together because they’re family there’s always going to be that connection so yes, maybe you might live far away but there will always be in communication with your family.

"The Youngest Doll" by Rosario Ferre (Puerto Rico)

The story “The Young Doll” is a scary sort of story. It’s about how some women gets bitten in her leg and stops going out and having a life and starts making dolls. She came to the point when the dolls she would make for her nieces would look exactly the same. You couldn’t tell who the doll was and who the niece was. At the end of the story the young doctor from the story realizes that he been living not with his wife but the doll that looks like her. He found out it was the doll when he saw animals coming out from the dolls eyes.
One moment I could remember that I was terrified I have to say when I was watching the exorcist. Just me thinking on the things that were going to happen. I never even finished watching none of the exorcist movies, because I knew that it was going to have parts that I was going to be scared at. I have notice that most horror film share the same main idea is that there is always a target someone or something that gets affected or tormented and there’s always creepy music.

"The Book Of Sand" By Jorge Luis Borgers (Argetina)

This story was about a sales man that was going door to door selling bibles. When finally a man opens the door and lets him in. The salesman offers the man bibles but he didn’t want any because he had one already. When the salesman offers him this, sacred book that came from India. The man decided to buy it when he open the book he saw that the book had no beginning or end like if it was infinite hey called it the book of sand. But the man decided to buy the book to figure out how to read this book. While he was try to read it he isolated himself from everything he wouldn’t do anything else except to read that book he would call the book monstrous. He decided to hide the book in a library so that it would be hard to find and that way nobody else would get trapped in the pages of “The Sand Book”.

Some things that now in the modern world get obsessed with I have to say, the internet and technology. Now a day’s people get really into Facebook, twitter, BLOGGING and texting on their phones. Some people really get into it that it could interfere with what they so in their daily lives. It could get in to the point that’s the only thing they do stay home, and be on these sites instead of going out and having real interaction with humans. Specially texting that's what I see in a everyday bases, people driving or walking in the street or working and they are just there texting instead of doing what they suppose to do. I think there’s a place and time to do certain things. If you’re on Facebook or on twitter or MySpace for more than 4 hours there has to be a problem with you…Time to go to rehab.

“Borders” by Thomas King (Canada)

In this story “Borders”, is about how a family that is from the Blackfoot's which is a type of natives from Canada. Well this family is trying to cross the Canadian border to go visit a relative in the U.S. but while they are at the border the police comes to ask them questions. One of their questions was to identify them self’s as Canadians, or as Americans. Because that family was proud of where they come from they would say they where "Blackfoot" which really means that they were Canadian. The police wouldn’t take that as a answer and they didn’t let them pass. I guess the point ogf the story and what it tells us is that even though you’re from the same place, people could identify them self’s differently because of their culture and background.
My nationality and my ethnicity are both very important, but for me the most important thing is my ethnicity. I think my ethnicity is more important because that’s where all my teachings come from. Since my parents are Mexican I learn a lot of how their culture is, their morals and what’s more important to them as Mexicans, and how to be proud of where you come from and not denying who you are. With a Mexican ethnicity shows where I came from “my roots”, and indentify myself more as a Mexican because of all the things I have been thought as my culture, teachings and for all that good food. Even though my nationality is American because I was born here my Mexican ethnicity is more important to me.
